CANNON BEACH DAY 2

Two days after my spur of the moment trip to Cannon Beach, my wife and I decided to take the entire family out for a drive and head there again, only this time we weren’t as lucky as I had been and we were greeted with the all too familiar weather that normally takes place this time of the year at Cannon Beach. Even with the weather as it was we still had a ton of fun and I was able to get a couple of photos that I like. Below is an example of haystacks on the other side of the beach (opposite end of the most famous haystack that the beach has). The color is a bit exaggerated with the sand being a tad more orange than it normally is, but I thought it played well in to the Cyan/Orange look and created a nice contrast between the sand and the sky.

In contrast here is a black and white shot of the main, and most famous haystacks that Cannon Beach has to offer.

For the last shot of the day I decided to turn my attention back to the most famous haystack but wanted to shoot it at a distance to once again show the size of the beach. As the weather was much colder today we decided to not stick around for any sunset photos and headed home.

For this next shot I wanted to get a bit more up close and personal so I decided to get down low and examine some of the rocks that were present in a rocky section of the beach. This particular rock caught my attention as it had interesting markings on its top side.

Another shot of the haystacks that are located on the north side of the beach.

One of my favorite shots of all time. Not just because it features two of my favorite people (my wife and my son) but also because it shows the great size of the beach and just how empty it was and how alone we were on the north end. If it wasn’t for the people in the distance once could almost argue that they were in the middle of the desert or some other uninhabited place. Till next time…
