TAMBARK PARK

Man, what a back half to the year it has been so far! I haven’t had a chance to go out and shoot for almost six months. Between my health issues and moving back to Seattle, life just hasn’t allowed me the joy and therapy (which I have really needed lately) of taking photos. Finally, this morning my wife, son and I went for a small walk at Tambark Park and I felt well enough to cary my camera with me. To say the least, it felt really good! I shook the rust off a bit and got a few photos that I am really happy with. This first one was just the first chance to shoot something and I think the fall colors and the growth of the tree were interesting enough to put together in to a fairly decent photo.

This one is the opposite perspective of the same trail bridge. Something I can’t stress enough is to turn around and go back! What I mean by that is that if you see something cool and you are walking towards it (especially in nature) shoot it, walk past it and then look back and shoot it again. That different perspective can give you a completely different photo. In this case, the foliage looks extremely different from this vantage point creating an entirely different mood.

From there I naturally found myself messing with leading lines again, as Im sure by know you know, my favorite. This trail bridge that is worn by weather and covered in leaves and debris plays perfectly in to the rest of the fall scene. A beautiful spot in real life resulting in a beautiful photo, not much more I could ask for. At this point I was starting to feel at home and back in the groove, man I missed shooting.

I wrapped the day shooting this final trail bridge. Once again, a different perspective resulting in different colors and lighting. This particular area had much less cloud and tree cover resulting in a much better lit scene that painted a much more warm and summer like scene as compared to the other photos giving off an autumn vibe. Overall the “shooting day” was fairly short, only about forty-five minutes but it was enough to shake off the rust and enjoy myself a bit. Overall I am pleased with the fact that I got four quality photos in a limited space and a limited time. And it just felt good to be back out there again with my camera in my hand. Till next time…
